Bases

Every flagpole is a base. Declare yours and it is private. Every other base on the server is on the map.

1. Every flagpole is a base. If it has a flag on it, the server knows about it.

2. A declared base is private. Every other base is public.

3. You get one declaration. Your clan's base if you are in a clan; one solo base if you are not.

4. Keep the flag raised or the declaration lapses.

Declared#

Your clan's base is declared automatically the moment the clan activates. That uses up the one declaration each member gets.

A solo player declares on the site by picking a pole from the ones the log has seen them raise a flag at. You can only declare a base you have actually stood at.

Declared means the coordinates appear in exactly one place: your own map, or your clan's. Never on a public page, never in Discord, never in an announcement.

An active clan's declared pole is also a travel point: stand beside it, relog, and you are at the Hub. It stops being one while the clan is dormant or its flag is down.

Public#

Every other pole with a flag on it appears on the public bases layer of the map, for every logged-in, linked player: the coordinates and which flag is flying there.

That last part is on purpose. A clan that stashes loot at a second pole under its own colors signs its own name to it. A clan flying somebody else's colors is visibly an impostor. Fly white and you are just one more undeclared base — still public.

A public base whose flag nobody has raised for 14 days has despawned, and it drops off the map. Raise a flag there again and it is back.

Grace#

A pole is not published the instant it is seen.

  • New pole, never declared: 7 days from the first time the log sees a flag on it. Declare inside the week or it goes on the map. Seven days is also how long DayZ gives you to re-raise a flag before the base starts to decay — one deadline, two reasons to meet it.
  • A clan moved out, lapsed, or disbanded: 3 days. Long enough to haul loot out before the old spot is on the map.
  • Launch day: every pole standing when Clan Wars goes live gets the 7-day grace from that day.

When a declaration lapses#

Rule 4 has a clock. Only a flag raise by the owner resets that clock: you, for a solo base; any member, for a clan base.

  • Clan: no member raise for 7 days makes the clan dormant; 14 more days disbands it. The base stays declared and private through all of that, and goes public 3 days after the disband. See Defending.
  • Solo: no raise by you for 7 days and the declaration lapses on the spot. The pole gets the usual 3-day grace, then it is public. Raise the flag again inside the grace and it is yours again.

A solo base can be lowered by anyone, and nothing scores — there is no clan to raid. The only cost is that you have to go raise it again.

Spacing#

No two declared bases within 200 m of each other. First declared wins. This applies to a ceremony claim, a solo declaration, and a base move.

Why: every declared base has a 100 m watch zone around its pole. Keeping poles 200 m apart means zones never overlap, so anything the log records inside your zone — a stranger loitering, a wall dismantled, a fence turned into a gate — is unambiguously at your base, and the alert can say so.

The honest consequence: if the site refuses a claim with "too close to another declared base", you have learned that a private base is somewhere within 200 m. Not where. That small leak is accepted; the alternative is letting you found a clan and failing you later.

Solo to clan#

A solo base flies white by necessity — a solo has no flag from the 33. Three linked players, one of them the base's declarant, run the ceremony there, and it becomes the clan's base with everything in it. Same ritual, same evidence, no upgrade step.

That the declarant must take part is not a courtesy. Without it, three strangers could hold a ceremony at your base while you are asleep and take it from under you.

Joining a clan releases your solo declaration#

The moment you join, your old solo base starts its 3-day grace toward public. Leave the clan and you can declare again after the cooldown.

A clan could keep one friend out of the clan on purpose so they can hold a second private base. That is allowed, but that person can never join the clan without giving the base up.

Said so nobody is surprised#

  • During grace, whoever raises a flag at a half-built pole can declare it. Leave a base undeclared and undefended for a week and someone may simply take it. That is fair play.
  • Planting a fresh pole every seven days keeps you in permanent grace. Allowed. Moving the loot is the real cost, not the pole.
  • The map shows undeclared bases with their flag. It never shows a declared base to anyone but its owners.
